MY First post: January 29, 2022

Hello Family and Friends,

I want to start by thanking my hubby, Wayne Foley, for creating this blog and making this website possible. He is infinitely talented and so awesome that he saw this way to help me process and share about my journey. I’m so thankful he did this for me!

Please pray for my complete healing from breast cancer.  I was recently diagnosed in December 2021 with invasive ductal carcinoma and DCIS aggressive cancer, stage 1c. My breast cancer is ER positive, HR positive and HER2 positive. My lumpectomy was successful on 1/7/22 and I began targeted radiation on Wednesday, 1/19/22. Radiation was completed on Wednesday, 1/26/22 and I get my mediport for chemo on 2/4/22. Chemo and hormone blockers will follow on 2/9/22 beginning weekly treatments for 12 weeks. I will keep the mediport for a full year for Herceptin treatments and begin taking hormone blockers for 5-10 years. Yes, I will lose my hair but they are trying to save my life. I am so grateful for the progress in breast cancer treatments they have made in the last 10 years! HER2 positive used to be a fatal diagnosis but now it is treatable and there is a good prognosis if caught early.

It will be a long journey and I appreciate your prayers and encouragement. If you feel so inclined, please pray for me at 4:13 pm daily lifting my name to God along with my favorite verse. Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” I am not afraid and my God is always with me. My best friend, Tammy Brown, gave me a terrific shirt that says, “My God is stronger than breast cancer.” And He is!

My family is helping so much and they are so supportive. From driving me to appointments to getting me things and helping me with all sorts of things. I’m so thankful for my sisters and best friend checking in on me with texts and phone calls! It means so much for you to respond with an encouraging note on my blog also.  Thank you for thinking of me and praying.

PSA: Ladies, stay on time with your regular mammograms. My breast cancer was caught relatively early at my yearly mammogram and would have progressed further had I postponed or missed it. My medical oncologist said it could have potentially affected lymph nodes and been upgraded to stage 4 within a matter of 4-5 months. Please get your mammogram as recommended by your doctor!

GOD said very plainly “If I am for you, then, who/what can be against you?” No weapon formed against me will prosper — GOD does not lie — keep the faith and the faith will keep you.

                    I love you, Sissy!
I set a reminder to pray at 4:13 pm daily as well as other times throughout the day.
I encourage others to do the same. An easy way to be reminded with technology now. 🙂

Thanks for the info about your cancer. I have only known that you have the cancer, but not the type and dangerousness of the particular cancer. As far as the hair goes, there are hats, caps, wigs and whatever the other name for wigs is, plus even hairless styles. Do whatever fits your self image. I had radiation therapy on my nose for skin cancer and cannot grow a beard or mustache. I get by very well.

Living is the important part. A few permanent side effects–yes, but in the long run well worth the cost.

Pace yourself during chemotherapy. Everybody reacts slightly differently and you need to do what you can, and let somebody else pitch in when you can’t.
