Chemo Day#8 March 30 and #9 April 6

Chemo #8 was a stinker! I got weak and sick but the doc fixed me up with Magic Mouthwash, fluids and steroids. It was a hard weekend and I had to miss Monday at school but I am definitely feeling better now. I also busted a blood vessel in my eye and didn’t hit or bump it so it was just a spontaneous anomaly. I told my son I look like Frankenstein’s daughter with the extremely red and bloodshot eye! One of the positives of doing chemo and no hair is that I am able to change up my look depending on how I feel for the day. I can wear my wig hair, hats, no hat or hat with hair…. literally I have a baseball cap with hair attached! So funny! I take off the hat and the hair comes off with it. Hubby Wayne tried it on and he looks like the blonde guy on “Wayne’s World”. Also, wind doesn’t bother me because I have no hair to blow!

Chemo #9 is today on April 6th. I’ve met several new “breast cancer buddies” this week and I’m looking forward to the Sunday Cancer support group at our church. We have a small group of people that get together and share bible study, support and encouragement as we gather for a meal and meeting. Everyone is going through a different type and stage of cancer or is in remission. It’s great to have people who know what it’s like to hear the “C” diagnosis and trust God to take care of them.

This week before Holy Week, I am reminded of the pain and anguish Jesus went through prior to his crucifixion. It was more than any of us could ever experience because He was taking all of our sins (past, present and future) to the cross! It is finished and He is on the throne of heaven! We have a fabulous multi-sensory pathway to experience at our church called “Journey to the Cross”. If you live nearby, please get your free tickets to come and see for yourselves. I’ve attached the link so you can sign up Monday – Saturday Week of April 11-16. We only do this event every 3-5 years so many people look forward to it and bring family and friends. https://benttree.org/journey-to-the-cross/. Please sign up and enjoy. I’d love to hear if you are able to go!

A scripture that has meant a lot for me this week is Philippians 3:20-21. It says, ” But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.” Wow! This broken, sick and cancer-damaged body will be complete and glorious in heaven. I’m so thankful my citizenship is in heaven and I can look forward to going there with Jesus when He is finished with me and my purpose here on Earth. Thankful, grateful and blessed! It’s not just a t-shirt slogan… it’s a way of living and being thankful for every day and every breath! This life may not be a cake walk but it will get better eventually and I have hope.

Have a fabulous weekend as spring kicks into action and don’t forget to smile! It lights up the world with kindness and spreads love. Sincerely, Tamela

Howdy Tamela!

Healing vibes and prayers continue that God aligns your body up the way he intended for healing. That though the chemo isn’t always easy and you have more better days filled with positive outcomes. But when times feel more than hard and draining that He will give you the strength to endure and the confidence that you will beat this disease and that your healing is accepted in advance. I pray for your family and friends as they are near you providing you support and I send love your way that God may comfort you as you trust His guidance for your healing.

Hi Tamela! You and I went to the same high school (same grade) and share the same friends. My best friend Ramona posted the link to your blog in one of our Bible Study groups and I’ve read all of your entries. I’m very sorry to hear about your diagnosis but I’m very happy to know about your relationship with our Lord and Savior. I will be praying for you and will continue to read your entries to find out how you’re doing. God Bless you real good Sincerely, Michelle (Thedford) Walner

My prayers are with you Tamela. I have added you to our women’s Bible study for prayers as you continue your journey.

I recently came across James 5:14-15 it’s an act of faith but it asks if any among us are sick and it tells us to call the elders of the church to pray for you and anoint you with oil so that with faith you may be healed. I believe in the power of prayers and I believe God is our healer when even a doctor says no cure or that we are sick.

I pray that God will guide your doctors and your therapy and you will be healed. You’re in my thoughts and prayers always
